The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary established in 1939 is a volunteer civilian service that assists the United States Coast Guard in carrying out its noncombatant and non-law enforcement missions. There are approximately 30,000 Auxiliarists. Auxiliarists may use their own vessels, including boats and aircraft, in carrying out Coast Guard surface operation missions, or apply specialized skills such as Web page design or radio operating to assist the Coast Guard.
Auxiliarists wear the same uniform as Coast Guardsmen with modified insignia.
Auxiliarists are civilians and as such are always volunteers. Members give what they can when they can. They are not obligated to any military service.
Since its inception, The Coast Guard Auxiliary has expanded its parameters to virtually all areas in which the Coast Guard participates, except direct law enforcement and military operations. On any average day, Coast Guard Auxiliarists throughout the United States will do the following:
Flotilla 3-10 was formed in 1992 and is located in Elk Grove California. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at South East Lawn Memorial Park, 9184 Stockton Boulevard at 1900 "The Diggs". We are attached to Division 3 and District 11, Northern Region. The Flotilla Commander is Carla Rose. |
